The wind blew her hair
The cruel rain falls on her
Silently she cries

She wanted to pick
The sparkling big bad apple
That fell off the tree

We’re good together
Thought it would last forever
But now its over

Father Burgos’ Pail

In Art on August 18, 2011 at 8:56 am

This was taken at the Burgos Museum. This is the pail that can be found at the dirty kitchen of old houses during the Spanish times. It goes straight to the well that way the fetching of water becomes easier.

They are…..
Photo and caption by SEONHO SHIN

I think that real travelers are homeless people. They are always find new place. I met two people under bay bridge in San Francisco. Tom and Sandra; even though they don’t have money, house, and food, they are looked happy. And they said “we can move in & out without any contract” After 2 weeks later, they left their place. Tom and Sandra taught to me about traveler.

The photo touched my heart, the caption melted it. True Love!

Spinning Around

In Art, Family, Personal on April 19, 2011 at 3:34 pm

Slow shutter speed. They make good and dramatic photos. I took this picture using my friend’s GE camera. This is an accidental shot but I like its effect.

Back when we didn’t have an SLR, I’d be too envious of people who had it. Now that I have it, I’m too busy to tinker with it.

In Brandon’s Room

In Art, Event, Personal on April 19, 2011 at 7:28 am

Picture this:

Brandon Boyd singing this song to you and only you.

This party is old and uninviting
Participants all in black and white
You enter in fullblown technicolor
Nothing is the same after tonight

If the world would fall apart
In a fiction worthy wind
I wouldn’t change a thing
Now that you’re here

Yeah, love is a verb here in my room
Here in my room, here in my room

You enter and close the door behind you
Now show me the world as seen from the stars
If only the lights would dim a little
I’m weary about eyes upon my scars

Pink tractor beam into your incision
Head spinning as free as dervishs’ whirl
I came here expecting next to nothing
So thank you for being that kind of girl
That kind of girl

A sexy song from a sexy singer. Die-hard music fans may think of this as shallow or something like that but I just can’t help it. I find him so hot and I won’t even deny it.

Physically, he looks very attractive. It does not matter whether he’s sporting short curly waves or  long dread locks. He still looks sexy. He surfs, he paints, he writes poems, he’s an activist and he loves his Mother. Yes, I knew all that from way back then. I was in 2nd year high school when I first heard their SCIENCE album. I fell in love with his lyrics. When I saw how he looked like, I fell in love with his looks. Thus our fan-girl mode over Brandon Boyd started. Jonjee likes him too. Heck, she likes him more than I do.

Last week, Oviation Production announced about Incubus coming to the Philippines. This is the third time that they are coming to the Philippines and if all goes well, this will be my first time to see the band perform live.

Some friends asked, “What if they play new songs?”. Who cares about that? I mean, I would want to sing along to each and every old song from their old albums. If they play old songs, fine. If they don’t, fine.

It’s THE Incubus and THE Brandon Boyd. Considering the fact that I still have 2 months or so to save up for the concert, it would be a sin to let this chance of seeing him perform live pass. And that’s the kind of sin that I don’t want to make.

Facebook made birthday greetings easier and cheaper. If it is your birthday, expect your wall to be bombarded by a lot of greetings.

The first greeting  on my wall is from Colcol. He is in Cebu right now. I think, this would be my first birthday without him, that is ever since we knew each other which is like 8 years or so.

I scan my page every now and then to see who greeted me. There are those whose greetings I await, there are those whose greetings I don’t care about and there are those whose greetings I am surprised with.

As of now 12 am of April 17, there are two people who greetings surprised me. One is that of a person that I don’t like. It’s not just me who does not like him but almost half of Iloilo. I could be exaggerating though. But this guy is some kind of an airhead. That is why I don’t like him. I don’t even know why on earth are we Facebook friends but I’m too polite to delete him. So let it be. I didn’t add him up in the first place.

His greeting made me think of two things. It could be that he just does not care about my opinion of him or he does not have any beef against me. My dislike for him is very obvious. I mean, we knew each other, we we’re schoolmates. We’ve hang out a couple of times may be but when we bump into each other on gigs lately, it is as if I don’t know him. I don’t want to be related to him in any way.

I feel so guilty about it though. I think, I’d be nice to him the next time I see him. By nice I mean smirk when he looks my way. Take note, smirk not smile. By nice I mean I will try not noticing, not gossiping and not reenacting his annoying moves, statuses and the like to my other friends who hate him as much as I do.

Next greeting that surprised me is that of KIRI DALENA’s.

We volunteered to take a photograph for her film a couple of weeks ago. I did not expect that she’d go out of her way to greet me. Well, she did not go out of her way, she just commented on Augustine’s post. But for her to exert effort in typing those words, the thought of that makes me feel giddy.

I mean, she could have used that effort in making another film, typing an important email to her artist friends, paint or sculpt. But she didn’t, I crossed her mind or rather Facebook’s updates showed on her homepage. And she typed my name. This is like Kurt Cobain greeting a die-hard grunge fan. It made my heart skip a beat.

I know someone who would give an arm and leg just to be greeted by her. Die green of envy then, my friend for here is a screenshot of the best birthday gift that I got today:

Eat your heart out...

So what’s with the name?

In Art, Boredom on April 15, 2011 at 3:20 pm

So what’s with the name?

We don’t know for sure, but we suspect it may have something to do with the English slang “bird.”

You may remember it from the Beatles’ song “Norwegian Wood” (subtitled “This Bird Has Flown”) or, more recently, in the Ting Tings “That’s Not My Name” song “They call me bird / they call me Jane.”

The phrase originated in the late ’50s and basically means a really cute girl –

The Filipino slang “bird” means……..Go figure!
